For others, such as all of the Libre Office programs, the dragged item does not work but gives a message of 'broken link.' There is no possibility of fixing it, because when you right-click it and look at the Properties, you cannot edit the command field. The old Open Office icons were there, but did not work because the programs had been removed in the course of the upgrade.įor some programs, such as Calculator, I find that I can just drag the icon from the Dash to the desktop, and it works right away.
First of all, when I 'upgraded' from 10.04 to 12.04, most of the previous desktop icons survived the transition and worked.
My experience with 12.04 in this respect is utterly weird.
